Annual Membership is $20 (API members are free)

It costs $20 per game (applicable to all players) which includes lunch and green fees, raffles and small prizes for winners.

The API Social Bowling Club meets fortnightly on Fridays within the bowling season for mixed bowls. Time 9.00am for 9.30am start.

Venue: We do not have a designated bowling club but some metropolitan bowling clubs kindly host our games. We play two lots of ten ends followed by lunch.

Description

API Social Bowling Club was originally formed by retired members of Telecom, now Telstra and PMG department, now Australia Post to enjoy lawn bowls on a purely social basis without the obligation of club pennants and other duties associated with membership of a registered lawn bowling club.

Originally membership was restricted to retired officers of Telecom and PMG Department. Now membership is open to anyone who enjoys a game of social bowls.

Until recently the club was known as Post-Tel Social Bowls but now due to a closer relationship with the club's parent organisation API Leisure & Lifestyle the club is often referred to as API Social Bowling Club.

At present the clubs membership is approximately 70 members with between 40 and 50 members and guests enjoying a game on every second Friday during the bowling season at a variety of bowling club venues throughout the metropolitan area.

The days program starts with morning tea and biscuits at approximately 9.00am followed by two games of 10 ends. Bowling is normally finished by 12.30pm so as to avoid the hotter times of the day during mid summer. Members enjoy a light meal, usually cold meats and salad, and desert. The whole day including the bowls and meals costs $20 per head.

Anyone is welcome to join in for a game and there is no obligation to become a financial member until they are comfortable with their fellow members and the game format. If you have never bowled before, not a problem as our members will be happy to help you learn the game. Remember our bowls are social and fun.
